Returning for its 9th year to the ROM, Mark discusses the ongoing appeal of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition centred around the world’s longest running and most prestigious nature photography competition. Drawing on his extensive research on birds and skill as a photographer, he explores the balance of knowledge needed to capture the natural world with the ethical challenges of photography.
About Mark Peck
Manager, Schad Gallery of Biodiversity, ROM – Mark Peck is an award-winning wildlife and nature photographer. Mark is on the Museum’s curatorial team for the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition and showcases the role of photography in conservation while sharing his expertise throughout the community.
Mark is formerly a technician in the ROM’s Department of Natural History, during which he assisted with fieldwork, exhibitions, and the ornithology collection. He serves as the ROM liaison for the Ontario Bird Records Committee, and as a consultant for Ontario Birds / Ontario Field Ornithologists. He is also the Program Councilor for the Toronto Ornithological Club and a Regional Coordinator for the Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas.
