About Mustafa Hacalaki
Mustafa Hacalaki is a visual artist and photographer based in Montréal, Canada. Born and raised in Izmir, Türkiye and moved to Montréal in 2009. Though his work defies easy categorization, Mustafa’s photographs reflect a cinematic eye and a painterly approach — shaped by his love of arthouse cinema and his artistic background, especially his use of natural light inspired by the dramatic compositions of Baroque masters. Mustafa has been drawn to capturing life’s quiet, poetic moments — whether portraits, landscapes, or simple everyday scenes.
